"Before there were reels, there was my mind. It kept me quite entertained. I had favourite fantasies that I played on repeat like running into crushes in unexpected places and rehearsing reactions for it." Roshni you will be happy to know that there are many other kindred souls like you - me being one of them! I continue to play out exciting scenarios in my head - never a dull moment there. Loved your essay and how beautifully you've explained something that I find difficult and complicated. When I read your essay (which have seen in my saved folder for ages!) I found myself saying, "Ah - so it can be explained!"
God, i LOVE this piece. I laughed out loud at a few parts and was reminded of that time I slipped on some hollow wooden steps in the mosque - bom bom bom, what a sound this made. And I landed a few feet away from a guy praying - poor thing, he got quite the shock and he wasn’t sure what he should do lol - should he continue praying or help me.
Hai! What a beautiful way to think of a fall! It’s like someone pressed the pause button mid fall, took us for a walk inside the mind, and then unpaused.
Also, I love this, “Reels came later, first there was my mind.” Here’s to reading many more reels from your mind!
“For heavy people or those who feel heavy—for us who carry some undefined burdens or chanchal minds —I advocate a safe out-of-the-blue fall. No, not scuba diving and the weightlessness underwater. Not anti-gravity rooms where you float around, and not paragliding or parasailing either. Just a sheer, safe, accidental fall, anywhere.” - uff! ❤️
Aww! I loved the disjointed yet flowy structure of this newsletter...happy thinking, falling, writing!
Thank you Mukta!
